Here's where you will find information on our operation.
We are located in the heart of the “Duck Factory” and have the highest densities of breeding ducks on the continent! We have great mallard and pintail shooting right from the September 1st opener through to the end of October. Goose hunting is exceptional throughout the year. We have exceptional large honker hunting early in September and then we see thousands of specs move in then followed by lesser canada geese and snows.
The area we hunt is best discrbed as Aspen Parkland and is thinlly populated with grain/cattle farms throughout. Because we don't have well defined, high numbers of birds using refuges as they do farther south in the migration and on the wintering grounds, we have to travel many miles to find where birds are feeding and secure permission from the landowners. So we are hunting on the "X" so to speak and the results are legendary and the spotting is the key to our success.
Between myself and our guides we have a combined 50+ years experience. Our guides return season upon season to help us find the best hunts available and that shows in the results. The key to our success is based on their experience, but also hard work, as we scout twice a day to be certain where the birds are going to be for your best hunt.
Black Dog Outfitters camp is located 12 miles south of the town of Vegreville in central Alberta, just 75 minutes from Edmonton International Airport.
Our lodge is a 2600 sq.ft. converted farm house on six acres of mature treed land. It can accommodate up to 12 hunters. There are two full bathrooms.
All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in camp. And of course the excellent homemade meals!
